Do you ever feel like you are talking to yourself or that no one is listening? Maybe it’s not you, maybe it’s your message. Too often our words get lost because we aren’t focused and to the point. Rambling or worse yelling while rambling causes coworkers, employees, friends, and loved ones to lose interest and check out. Instead of rambling and trying to fly off the seat of your pants set a plan and know what you plan on saying before you go into a meeting blind. Be prepared.
The same can be said for goal setting. Have a plan of attack and start working towards your goals. Don’t wonder through your day and not know what you are going to do to move you closer to your goals. Have two actions that you will complete every day that will lead you to becoming a goal achiever. Don’t try to list 15-20 things you must do each day and then beat yourself up because you only got to the first thing on your list. Lists are great, but they can also be overwhelming if you try to do too many things at one time.
Set your attention on the outcome and work every day towards that goal. Accomplishing a goal is progressive. It is an ascension of greatness, not a quick elevator ride. The “overnight success” is the person who was working diligently for months or years on one to two tasks at a time while you were spinning your wheels on a list of activities that never got completed because you became overwhelmed and threw in the towel. Remember you have the ability to be heard everywhere you go…. actions speak louder than words. Let your daily actions become your megaphone and go out there and make a name for yourself.
